GUNS N’ ROSES NAMES DJ ASHBA AS BAND’S NEWEST AXEMAN Category: Music Guns N’ Roses is proud to announce that guitarist n’ songwriter Dj Ashba has joined the band for an upcoming tour. Ashba, who officially replaces current NIN guitarist Robin Finck, is best known as co-founder of hard rock bands Sixx AM and Beautiful Creatures. “Dj’s a gifted, energetic guitarist that Guns N’ Roses is proud to have on board!!” exclaims Axl Rose. “We’re very excited to have the opportunity to work together. Guns’ radar has silently been aware of Dj’s presence for quite some time! He brings a fresh approach to our particular brand of mayhem expanding the tapestry of Guns N’ Roses live. Once Dj’s name was in the hat, the hat disappeared!!” “It’s an honor to have the opportunity to be a part of a band that I have always loved and respected,” said Dj Ashba. “I’m looking forward to working with Axl, who is not only one of the few great front men of our generation, but a true artist.” Dj Ashba co-wrote and co-produced Motley Crue’s latest album “Saints of Los Angeles,” which garnered a 2008 GRAMMY nomination for Best Hard Rock Performance, as well as co-wrote and co-produced the Sixx AM album “Heroin Diaries.” Robin continues to be part of GN’R, by virtue of Guns’ history and his involvement in Chinese Democracy. Now, one step closer to the abyss, Ashba joins a band who’s all time roster is nearly as long as it’s founder Axl Rose’s rap sheet!

I just personally don’t see Ashbas logic in this move. He has Grammy nominated albums, touring and has some credibility. Why would anyone subject themselves to the madness that is GNR at this point?

GUNS N’ ROSES To Tour With VAN HALEN? – Mar. 6, 2009 According to Hits Daily Double, the companion web site of music industry tip sheet HITS, GUNS N’ ROSES is rumored to be planning a co-headlining tour with VAN HALEN. RollingStone.com reported earlier this week that Axl Rose intends to take the current lineup of GUNS N’ ROSES out on a worldwide stadium tour this summer. “Axl has been basically quiet, keeping out of the limelight for almost 15 years,” GUNS manager Irving Azoff told RollingStone.com.”People think they know him, but they really only know what has been said about him by questionable people. He is a good guy and often misunderstood — he is a professional who has worked very hard to build and maintain a high creative standard for GUNS N’ ROSES, which I support. We have some exciting things in the works this year for GN’R. I’m looking forward to it.” Contrary to a report posted on the MTV Spain web site, the band has absolutely no plans of playing Spain’s Kobetasonik festival this June, according to RollingStone.com. GUNS N’ ROSES’ new album, “Chinese Democracy”, was officially certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on February 3, 2009 for shipments in the United States in excess of one million copies. According to Nielsen SoundScan, the CD has shifted 554,000 units since it was released on November 23, 2008 as a Best Buy exclusive after a wait of more than 15 years. Aside from Billboard and Spinner interviews and answering a number of fan questions at a GUNS N’ ROSES message board, Axl Rose has done no promotion of any kind for “Chinese Democracy”. I don’t know what would be worse, the ticket prices or the wait for Gun’s to take the stage. Either way it would be a pretty fucking epic show.

Let me preface this by saying I was going to put up a Skid Row video. Wouldn’t you know, the videos I have been watching for a long time have been removed. While, I love the band I think Sebastian Bach needs an ass kicking. The guys is so far up Axl’s ass you’d have to pull the corn out of his teeth. A prime example of someone who takes himself wayyy to seriously. Let’s do another reality show.

It’s been nearly nine years since Lars Ulrich became one of the most vocal opponents of Napster and the generation of file-sharers it spawned. Not one to speak about something he has no experience of, Ulrich has just admitted downloading his own album, Death Magnetic, and it was “bizarre”. See the full story here.

I won’t deny that I have in the past downloaded countless albums. I find myself as of late taking a sense of pride in making a purchase. There is something quite cool to me about holding a tangible object, seeing the art work and reading the lyrics. Not to mention, it makes my CD collection look a little more robust which is nice. I suppose I want to support the artist as file sharing and such is one of the primary reason ticket prices to concerts have gone through the roof. Labels simply cant afford to book tours like they used to. This is why most stadium shows are booked with two or three big names. It saves money in the long run.

Either way, I found the statement “it was bizaare” to be kind of funny. Come on man, get with the times.

Since releasing the long-awaited Guns N’ Roses album ‘Chinese Democracy’ this past November, Axl Rose
has said very little about it, taking to message boards and e-mails for
the few comments he has made. But if there’s one person who could get
him to break his silence it’s Del James, Rose’s longtime friend, road manager and the man whose short story, ‘Without You,’ inspired the epic clip for ‘November Rain.’

James, a music journalist who has covered G N’ R for years, dating back to his days at metal mag Rip, as well as in several Rolling Stone
articles, spoke with Rose and is sharing the results of that one-on-one
exclusively with Spinner. Yes, here he is, W. Axl Rose, letting loose
on Slash, answering
whether he was trying to make the best album ever and waxing
philosophically on when the original G N’ R lineup really died.

This interview pretty much sums it up folks. Don’t hold your breath for a reuinion any time in the near future. There seems to be a lot of hostility towards Slash in this interview. Very unfortunate.

away from his forehead.

And what type of name is Chester Bennington? Nikki Sixx and Axl Rose are

good rock star names. But Chester Bennington? It sounds like the name of

a Teddy Bear! “Hey Kids, get your talking Chester Bennington bear at Toys R Us!”

Anybody named Chester Bennington has no business selling 5 million albums,

and that’s all there is to it.
